Suburban Farmhouse Tourism Research

This thesis summarizes the research progress of the homestay tourism domestically and Bed and Breakfast(B&B) internationally. It takes homestay in Qianwei ,Yingdong village of Chongming country, Shanghai as case study to explore the current problems and the development advantages of homestay tourism in Shanghai suburbs in terms of source market .destination, medium and supporting system. Some successful factors of homestays ,B&B development in China mainland / Taiwan province and foreign countries are used for reference to put forward some counterstrategies of Homestay tourism in Shanghai on the basis of homestay tourism development in Shanghai suburbs.The thesis consists of 6 parts:The first part outlines the foundation, purpose, theory, method and structure of the research.In the second part, The definition of Homestay in accordance with homestay tourism development in China is recognized and confirmed according to the comprehensive research summary on the conceptions of homestay in China , B&B in Taiwan province and foreign countries. And The prior researches on the homestay tourism in China, country tourism in Shanghai and B&B in foreign countries are discussed and analyzed in details.The third part probes into the homestay distribution in space , types and the characteristics of homestay tourism development in Shanghai.The fourth part focuses on the case study of homestay in Qianwei and Yingdong, which points out some problems and successful experience from 3 aspects: source market, destination , medium and supporting system required by tourism development. Based on those problems shown in case study, the part also gives the correspondent suggestions and measures.The fifth part gives some solutions to problems of Shanghai homestay tourism in a larger space sense according to the case study and successful experience of homestay and B&B development domestically and internationally.Finally the limiting factors and further research of the thesis are discussed briefly.
