Position management is the basis of human resource management, the core basis of enterprise management and also the hard core of fieldwork management.In knowledge economy, the work model of human society has changed fundamentally, transforming operational tasks based on physical strength to knowledge tasks based on mentality. Knowledge Work has become the main trend of modern work model, and is on behalf of the way of development direction on labor model in the future.The research on position management is based on the transformation of job, which will be the enrichment in the theory of position management. The practical sense of research is affording an effective route to resolve the problem about how to raise the efficiency of Knowledge Work.Traditional position management is based on work allocateion, functional theory, X theory and hierarchical enterprise framework. In knowledge economy, Knowledge Work is different from physical work on character, and leads to innovation of theory of position management. Position Analysis should be based on competency and build competency model. For team work, role analysis is a useful way to collect information of work; Position Design should be flexible, and job design should be humanism and based on performance improvement; Position Evaluation should substitute competency for work tasks, and construct index system for knowledge work. At last, the thesis does some research on application for position management in human resource Management.
