With the development of socioeconomic and increased of people, how to manage and use land has become a rather important and imperious issue. Farmland-grading and ranking is to work with, scientific, rational, unified management of agricultural land, in order to nurture the land market, deepen the reform of rural land-use system and improve our land price system . Now, farmland-grading and ranking gains an unprecedented high speed. Geography Information System, as one of the technological means used in farmland-grading and ranking, plays an important role. As the development of component technologies, component GIS has become rather important. Component technologies are based on platform of component object. It has standard interface and apply to different languages. So component GIS have mobilitily and convenient to further exploit.This paper discusses the feasibility and necessity of automatic and intelligent agricultural land grading information system that is supported by GIS techniques. We also present the principle of how to build such kind of system, followed by the methodology of system development. It is Visual Basic 6.0 and MapObjects 2.0 that we use to program. The system is based on the factor method and modularization design with general purpose for agricultural land grading.The chapter examine the general situation. Main progress, existing problems and future trend of related research in China and abroad. And elaborates the important significance to achieve automatic and intelligent agricultural land grading through this research on agricultural land grading and developing agricultural land grading information system . The most widely used three component technologies (C0M C0RBA Enterprise JavaBeans) are also presented and compared, at the same time the paper has pointed out the main applications of these technologies and component GIS in agricultural land grading information system.Firstly this dissertation elaborates on the design and implementation of agricultural land grading and evaluation information system based on the developed system ALEIS, such as the system total purpose, data design, system structure, main functional module, the special analysis and statistics functions and the cautions in the procedure. In the farmland-grading and ranking on the work of the GIS technology, will have the following advantages : (1) Efficient. (2) High accuracy. Because computer quantitative terms, it is very precise expression data that difficult acquire through artificial means (3) farmland-grading and ranking even simplistic. GIS functional module completed the core grading and ranking task and acertain degree of grading and ranking assessments, the staff can operate only on familiar with the current work processes and the business environment in. (4) Strong results can be applied. Results of the work of the application is vitality lie to farmland-grading and ranking. Digital intermediate products and final results provided many conveniences for the late. Introducted GIS, enhanced macro management decision-making level.Finally we summarize our experiences about how to develop such kind of agricultural land grading expert information system. We also provide a few suggestions on future research directions.
