Region integration is an important tendency in contemporary world. Among the developments of region integration, Europe integration is the earliest and the most mature. North America has also established free trade region, which is gradually expanding toward the whole America.Comparing with other region integration, East Asia region cooperation has many different features, such as multi-level, sub-region-based, low institutionalizing, on-exclusiveness and non-intervening-sovereignty. Despite falling behind Europe and North America, East Asia is the most dynamic area among those integrating areas in the world, because there are many motive force putting the process of East Asia regional cooperation onward. The pressure of globalization and regional integration and the urgency of decreasing the dependence on Europe and America are the external forces that propel the development of East Asia region integration. The increasing economic interdependence, the will of promoting political cooperation, cultural interlinking and the sprouting of region collective identity are the internal forces.Regional cooperation of East Asia developed in trade , investment and currency fields. The three fields impose reaction on each other and form a benign reaction circumstance. Except traditional factors, nontraditional factors also had deep affect of East Asia integration development.As regional large country, China has important interest and key position in the development of East Asia cooperation. In the 21st century, China should follow the tendency of globalization and regionalism and actively put forward East Asia region integration. China is bound to play a key role in the process of East Asia region integration and bring itself great interest.
