PM originated from the well-known Manhattan Plan in 1940s and has rapidly spread since 1980s. With long-term theory and practice, PM has formed a set of complete and universal theoretical knowledge system which consists of nine knowledge areas - scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, risk management, human resource management, procurement management, communication management and integration management as well as five project management processes - initiation, planning, execution, control and close-out.As quickly development of IT in China, integration of information system is now tending towards large scale with the features of complexity, wide scope, long project duration and variable technologies. Therefore the key of success or failure is whether the basic theory of modern project management can be put to rational use in the projects. This article will present some effective management tactics and measures in combination with features of large-scale integration project of information system.The Network Management Information System of China Pacific Insurance (group) Co., Ltd is a large information system which nation-widely covers a HQs and 66 branches. The completion of this project lasted two years from initiation to close-out. Since the theoretical knowledge of PM, especially team building, scope management, risk management,communication management and change management was fully utilized into project implementation, and provided strong support for smooth completion of the project, a much better result was achieved. This article will give study of case around this real case.
