Hammer crusher is an effective and widely used broken tool, but now the research of hammer crusher is still not enough in our country, such as how to choose the power and the way to determine the size of the key parts. At present the domestic plants are mainly through theoretical calculation and the comparison with foreign crushers to determine the power and the size of key parts, lacking of relevant theoretical research. In this paper the no-load start power and its consumption in work of the three hammer crushers-PCM160, PCM250 and PCM400-have been analyzed by the mechanical dynamics simulation software - ADAMS and finite element analysis software-ANSYS/LS-DYNA. By using the method of meshless algorithm, we can build the SPH particle model of coal, and study the process of crushing and its energy consumption. Through the research about the power of the hammer crusher, we find the main factors which affect the power are the throughput and inertia of crusher, and then we build the equation.Because of the complex stress state during the hammer crusher's working, it is difficult to determine the stress state when we do structural analysis. Then we use the ADAMS and ANSYS software to establish the Joint analysis platform. In this platform we can use the flex body for data interchange and the result gained from the ADAMS simulation to analyze the stress of key parts in ANSYS.
