Acrylate adhesive have practical applications in construction industry, textile industry. But acrylate copolymer is mainly composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. When they are used in the retardant field such as interior materials of public building and vehicle, they are requested to have flame-retardant properties. Adhesives always add flame retardants to provide flame retardant properties, but expense of stickiness as a price. In this paper, a series of polyacrylates were synthesized by copolymerized general acrylates with vinyl unsaturated phosphate monomers through pre-emulsified seed emulsion polymerization in order to prepare a phosphorus-combined adhesive. The flame retardant ability of the adhesive can be easily achieved with mixing a few inorganic flame retardant. So the compound adhesive had excellent performance of stickiness and flame retardance. The main conclusions can be drawn as follows:Firstly, adhesive SA was successfully synthesized by pre-emulsified seed emulsion polymerization with styrene (St), butyl acrylate (BA), ethyl acrylate (EA), methyl methacrylate (MMA) and acrylic acid (AA). The effects of the amount of St, emulsifiers and initiator, the polymerization temperature and the pre-emulsion dropwise time on emulsion and film properties were systemically investigated. The optimum polymerization process was obtained as follows: w(St):w(BA):w(EA):w(MMA):w(AA)=16:90:60:24:5,3% of emulsifier(m(Peregal O): m(SDS)=2:1),0.4% of initiator,30min pre-emulsion dropwise time. The product had milky blue light appearance,98% of monomer conversion rate, emulsion particle size<200nm, had excellent peel strength and film forming.Secondly, a flame-retardant styrene/acrylic copolymer adhesive(BSA) was successfully prepared with blending additive APP in SA adhesive. The effects of the amount of APP and St on emulsion stability, peel strength and flame retardant ability were systemically investigated. The thermal properties of BSA were studied by means of thermogravimetric analysis (TG). The results showed that BSA had good peel strength and flame retardant ability with used 20% of APP,9% of St.Thirdly, a compound flame-retardant adhesive(CPSA) was successfully prepared with blending a few additive APP in phosphorus-combined styrene/acrylic copolymer which was synthesized by pre-emulsified seed emulsion polymerization. The effects of the amount of vinyl unsaturated phosphate monomers, APP and St on emulsion stability, peel strength and flame retardant ability were systemically investigated. The thermal properties of CPSA and PSA were studied by means of thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). The results showed that CPSA had good peel strength and flame retardant ability with used 4% vinyl unsaturated phosphate monomers and 12% of APP.
