Formaldehyde gas is very toxic. It will be very harmful for health to long-term contact with it. Most of human life is spend in doors. Indoor formaldehyde gas detection is directly related to the quality of human life and health. Indoor formaldehyde gas standard has been clearly defined by most of countries in the world. With the improvement of life quality, people are increasingly concerned about indoor air quality, so that the formaldehyde gas detection has become the hot research project, and concerned by most scholar.This paper designed a formaldehyde detection system, and set up the test system. Formaldehyde detection system consists of three parts, formaldehyde detector, base stations and monitoring centers. Formaldehyde detector selected electrochemical sensor to collect the formaldehyde gas, and communicate with base station through the RF module. The base station is used to receive the formaldehyde concentration data from the formaldehyde detector, and transmit the data via GPRS module. Monitoring Centre is used to observe the formaldehyde concentration data by the PC software, and store the data to the database. The test system is composed of NI equipment. By comparing, it verifies the accuracy of formaldehyde detection system. Formaldehyde detection system combined with wireless communication technology, computer-controlled technology and embedded development technologies. The system measures accuracy and stability. It can be used as common detection tool, and widely used in a variety of indoor test environment.This paper is divided into six chapters. In the first chapter the relevant background of this project is presented. Chapter2introduces the design of the overall structure. The design of the hardware will be detailed in Chapter3. Chapter4introduces the design of the software in detail. Chapter5presents the measurement data of the system, and designed a test system. A summary and outlook about the project will be presented in the Chapter6.
