The noise of micro-surfacing pavement is higher than common asphalt, and has a bad influence on road surroundings,the drivers and passengers. So it is significant to do research on the noise reducing mechanism and techniques.The emulsification mechanism of emulsified asphalt has been analyzed for micro-surfacing technique. By evaporation residue index test of emulsified asphalt, the compatibility of emulsified asphalt has been studied. For a big noise problem of micro-surfacing pavement, the gradation has been changed,and then test their absorption coefficient with the standing wave tube, the results showed that sound absorption performance of the mixture has improved significantly. The sound absorption performance of the different addition of crumb rubber and fiber micro-surfacing mixture were measured using standing wave tube. It analyzed that the content of crumb rubber and fiber impact on sound absorption properties of mixture, the results showed that when crumb rubber and fiber addition increased, the absorption coefficient of the mixture increases, sound absorption performance improved significantly. Meanwhile, road performance of crumb rubber micro-surfacing and fibrous micro-surfacing mixture were tested,and presented the appropriate content. For preventive maintenance, firstly we analyzed the scope of micro-surfacing technology and proposed the pavement indicator level of implementation the micro-surfacing in front of the road; it introduced conservation method for determining the timing, for example life-cycle analysis method.
