With the rapid development of China’s roads, the micro-surfacing as an efficient conventional maintenance technology, has been widely applied in the country. At the same time, the high traffic noise problem of the micro-surfacing becomes widespread attention. In addition, due to the micro-surfacing is vulnerable to the influences of the external environmental, the construction technology and traffic load, which lead to changes in its long-term technical performance. Therefore, the traffic noise problem and the performance stability problem have become the main technical bottlenecks on the further development of the micro-surfacing.The actual situation of the the traffic noise of the micro-surfacing were researched deep and analyzed comprehensively. On the basis of the micro-surfacing noise mechanism and its main factors which have been summarized, by improving mineral aggregate gradation, adding steel slag and rubber powder, the characteristics of the road surface are changed, which can improve the noise reduction performance of the micro-surfacing. Analyzing the performance evaluations of each micro-surfacing noise reduction scheme can be show that the noise reduction performance,technical performance and the construction performance of the micro-surfacing noise reduction schemes have obvious advantages over the ordinary micro-surfacing. Although the anti-sliding performance and the pavement skid resistance of the micro-surfacing noise reduction schemes are slightly lower than the ordinary micro-surfacing, it is still conform to the requirements of the road. For the impact of the construction technology, it shows that after a light rolling compaction, comparing to the ordinary micro-surfacing, the noise reduction performance, shear performance, high temperature performance and low temperature performance are all been improved in different degrees. Although the pavement skid resistance decreased slightly, it is still conform to the requirements of the road. The studies of the long-term performance change rule of the micro-surfacing noise reduction schemes shows that the pavement skid resistance and the noise reduction performance are relatively stable, which meet the requirements of the pavement performance in life-cycle.
