Micro-Surfacing is one of the most representative measures of Pavement Preventive Maintenance (PPM).The function and the role of Micro-surfacing technology is more and more important in the construction and maintenance of highway as the development of our country highway project.However, the research results at present have proven that the tire/road noise of micro-surfacing is bigger evidently than the tire/road noise of common asphaltum pavement.So, based on the mechanism of tire/road noise,the paper focus on the reason that the tire/road noise of micro-surfacing is bigger evidently than the tire/road noise of common asphaltum pavement,and the main factors affected on the tire/road noise of micro-surfacing pavement to afford the practical reference for micro-surfacing maintenance technology.Based on large numbers of investigation about the using condition of micro-surfacing in our country,above all,the paper has reseached the surface features of micro-surfacing with the Digital Image Processing Technology.The reseach results show that, the surface features of micro-surfacing are different with the surface features of other pavement types from structural depth, pavement surface pore etc. This conclusion provide ideas for the further study of the paper that the paper must put the main issue on structural depth, pavement surface pore etc.when reseach the average absorption sound coefficient.According to the test of structural depth,the paper concluded that the micro-surfacing pavement produces mainly the tire/road noise.With the JTZB test system for average absorption sound coefficient,the paper considered that mixture porosity, mixture grading type,asphalt additives,pavement structural depth etc.have different affect on the average absorption sound coefficient,and the absorption sound coefficient of micro-surfacing pavement has a great relationship with the coefficient of original roads.The absorption sound coefficient of micro-surfacing pavement is bigger when the absorption sound coefficient of original roads is great.The peak of micro-surfacing pavement's absorption sound coefficient has the trend to 1200Hz ~ 2000Hz range,and there is a best absorption result when the noise is within the frequency of 1200Hz ~ 2000Hz.
