This paper regards the 600MW supercritical once-through boiler unit in Ningde of Datang International Power Generation Company as the study target, firstly elaborating the principle of the plasma ignition technology, the structure of equipment and the composition of the system. Then analyzing the applications of the plasma ignition technology in the 600MW supercritical unit before the transformation of plasma ignition device. From the above, we can come to the conclusion: from the unit's commissioning to handover the post-production, the boiler ignition and combustion are stable at low load. The using of the plasma system, saves a lot of fuel, so energy-saving effect is remarkable. However, in use, due to structural reasons, there are some problems that affect the energy-saving effectiveness and operational safety and stability. So Ningde Power Generation Company transformed the original plasma ignition equipment and system in the downtime of the unit on the Spring Festival. After comparing the operational safety, stability and economy of the unit before transforming with those features after Transforming. We can safely drawn the conclusion: this transformation completed and exceeded the expected effects. Through the technological transformation of plasma ignition system ,achieving oil-free ignition, futher improving the safety and economy of the unit.
