Design And Research Of Station Front Square On High-Speed Railway Stations In China

China is striding ahead in her high-speed railways construction,in the meantime,new stations are sprouting up all over the country. It is soon became the centre of attention. A station front square is a connection between a station and the urban traffic,which is a intersection of different modes of transportations,a public place to transfer,gather and evacuate.Design of a station front square has a grate influence on passenger collecting and distributing system.China high-speed railway is overhead railway.The overhead railway lines traverse station building,which have cuted up two parts of the front square.Because new high-speed railway stations are always situated on urban fringe,one square which faced to the urban center undertakes functions of traffic and combined service,the other square undertakes functions of landscape through hiding from physical relief,or actes the role to expand new developed area around the station.Therefore, the design of high-speed railway station front square is complex and multiplex.Owing to standing on different regions,every square has different functions, layout forms and traffic organizations, the concrete problem need a concrete analysis.The author had participated in the urban design of Weinan North Station, design and construction drawings of Weinan North Station front square.In the works, the author had grasped of a certain design method. Weinan North Station front square had completed in March 2011.Along China high-speed railway lines,the writer had investigated some new front squares by roding in the high-speed train,such as Beijing South Station,Shanghai South Station,Changsha South Station,Wuhan Station, Guangzhou South Station,Shenzhen North Station,Xi'an North Station,Suzhou Station and so on.A small part of these squares have been built up, most of them are been constructing until now.Due to design front square of Weinan North Station,the writer had investigated some stations along the railway line(Zhengzhou-Xi'an High Speed Railway),such as Kunshan South Station,Huashan North Station,Lingbao West Station,San Menxia South Station,Mianchi South Station,Luoyang-Longmen Station and so on.Moreover, comparing with the common railway station front squares, the writer had investigated Beijing West Station,Chengdu Station,Xi'an Station,Nanjing Station,Wuchang Station and so on.In this paper,contrast and investigation are the main research approaches,and the conclusion of this paper is the key of the high-speed railway station front square designs,the problems of current situation and the long-term outlook.
