In recent years, high-speed rail construction began to develop all over the country. The author thinks it is inseparable from the rapid development of the urbanization process and economy in China. It has changed the structure of passenger transport, urban spatial structure and our travel and living.Scientific and rational organization of the station square’s transportation of the passenger station has important theoretical and practical significance in playing the transportation hub functions of high-speed rails. This paper focuses on the method how to handle the traffic distribution and traffic flow organization. As a result, the station traffic can be safe, orderly, fast and smooth. It is hoped that this can provide some experience for such planning projects of station squares.This paper covers four parts of high-speed rail station square, including the basic research of traffic space, design elements resolving, design methods exploring and comprehensive practice.Based on the definition of station square’s traffic space, the basic research of traffic space of high speed rail station square digs into the difference between special background of high-speed rail station’s traffic space and ordinary rail site traffic space. Through the space-oriented theory, the environmental psychology theory, the environmental behavior theory and the functional orientation analysis of the high-speed rail sites, the importance of traffic space station is explored.The design elements resolving of high-speed rail station square’s traffic space in this paper briefly describes the development course of the high-speed rail stations. The paper also takes the "Rong" Hub of Japan, the La Defense Hub of France, the Hart Hub of Germany and the San Francisco Hub of America for example. From the perspective of different functional orientation, this paper takes domestic high-speed rail sites for comprehensive analysis. This paper takes Beijing South Railway Station and Chengdu East Railway Station as integrated hub sites, Pengzhou Station as a traffic connection site and Xipu Station as a general site. The resolving aspects including the spatial form, transportation elements, site elements, marked elements and landscape elements.In the design methods exploring of high-speed rail station square, this paper proposes design principles of the site traffic space and the specific transport space design, such as the design summarize of pedestrian space, bus stops, social parking and long-distance passenger transport. Finally, the design practice is made for a particular functional orientation site according to the study. This paper takes station square’s traffic space planning and design of Qingjiang High-speed Rail Station in Leshan for example.
