A Study On The Renovation And Transformation Model Of Villages In Small Towns Of Developed Areas

Since China's reform and opening up, the development of urbanization in developed areas has entered a new period. The urbanization of"point type"with the carrier of small towns and the urbanization of"radiation type"characterized by metropolitan spatial enlargement complement each other, which jointly advance the comprehensive development of large, medium and small cities in China. The high-speed industrial economic development has meanwhile brought about a series of urban problems, among which city village is a typical case. Besides, the trend of city village increasingly spreading towards small towns has been established.The great development of small towns in China has become a unique phenomenon in the world, which is called"rural urbanization"by some scholars according to the reality of urbanization in China's national conditions. For one thing, rural urbanization has advanced the transformation of rural community to town community. For another,"in-situ urbanization"of rural people causes extreme dispersion of demographic aggregation, which leads to the formation of a large number of urban-rural transitional communities——"villages in small towns"in the blending areas of cities and villages. On the whole, villages in small towns are the products of"in-situ urbanization"of rural people. Its general formation background is China's rural urbanization, the political background is the development strategy of small towns, the economic background is rural industrialization and the demographic background is urban flouting population. According to the strategy of town development in China, the promotion of the process of urbanization and industrialization will be more dependent on the construction of small towns. The phenomenon of"villages in small towns"has become one of the bottlenecks restricting the process of urban development. Thus, the cause of"villages in small towns"in developed areas should be analytical studied to reduce or to prevent the harm brought about by"city village"by drawing on the experience of researches on"city village"in big cities.Making a contrast study on villages in big cities and villages in small towns, summarizes their respective characteristics, the thesis finds out the specialties of the phenomenon and problems of villages in small towns, analyzes and generalizes the background, process, dynamic mechanism, type and problems. It has a comprehensive analysis of deep-seated problems facing villages in small towns from the perspectives of social groups, government regulation policy anomie and space production based on the summary of the current situation of villages in Mudu Town, Suzhou Province. Thus, based on the available basic survey information, a comprehensive evaluation system of differentiated guidance of villages in small towns has been established according to objective and subjective evaluation factors. In this way, the thesis makes a reasonable induction of several types of villages in small towns to provide a strategic basis for formulating the renovation and transformation model of city village with environment-concerned treatment.On the basis of objectively evaluating villages in small towns, the thesis has a scientific analysis of the current difficulties and principles of renovation and transformation of villages in small towns. Through the in-depth analysis of the economic feasibility of renovation and transformation, the corresponding renovation and transformation model was set up from the perspectives of transformation forms, subjects and the mode of the resettlement of local villagers and floating population, etc according to the current situation of different types of villages in Mudu Town, Suzhou Province. The thesis discusses the formation and optimization of related follow-up policy guarantee mechanism by drawing on the successful experiences in China and abroad in order to seek an effective countermeasure for dealing with problems of villages in small towns.Through the study on the issue of villages in small towns, this thesis aims to provide useful help to the healthy and orderly development of small towns and to give reference or guidance to the similar problems we are facing or will face, which may be brought about by town development.
