With the rapid development of economy, environmental-protective and energy conservation quality have been paid more and more attention when choosing washing machine.With unique advantages such as single structure, easy maintenance and high-efficiency, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive system is moving forward in multi-functiong and low noise directions. PMSM has received frequent usage in washing machine motor applications.The following aspects are studied mainly in this paper:First established PMSM mathemetical models in different coordinate. Considering the characteristics of the washing machine system, FOC strategy is used in PMSM control. And the working condition of both wash and dewash modes are analyzed. To meet the requirements of the system, a flux-weakening control method is raised in this thesis for washing machine application. And the practicality is proved by experiments.Secondly, rotor position estimation techniques for washing machine PMSM have been studied. Based on analysis of the possible estimation errors of three-phase Hall signals rotor position detection method, an appropriate strategy that changes position sensors operation control to sensorless control by a swich in dewash mode is proposed. And a speed estimation method based on mode reference adaptive control (MRAC) with on-line parameters identifications has been carried out in this paper to implement sensorless control of PMSM. The simulation analysis results show that the PMSM operation nosie can be reduced efficiently on the occasion due to it.Thirdly, according to mutable moment of inertia and large load disturbance characteristics, the on-line indentification methods of moment of inertia by means of MRAC and least square method are analyzed, and a simple observation method of load torque has been carried out in this paper. So according to the current value of the two parameters, servo system parameters can be adjusted correspondingly.Finally, experimental provision based on Infineon 8 bit MCU and the control strategy for roller washing machine system has been designed. The performance of two work modes is tested under different loads. The results show that the washing machine control system can achieve the expected indicators, and the proposed method has good dynamic and static performances.
