Excitation regulator can maintain generator terminal voltage and distribute reactive power reasonably among parallel generator units, which plays a critical effect to the safe and steady operation of generator units and even the entire power system. In order to improve the performance of excitation system, it's necessary to give the excitation regulator a test. To obtain a good regulation performance, it's necessary to test the characteristics of the excitation regulator completely at all stages of design research,manufacture,operation and maintenance.Along with the continuous progress and development of computer technology and power system digital simulation technology, and at the same time the test requirements of the synchronous generator excitation control system to excitation regulator are gradually improved. Combining with current situation of excitation system test device and development trend of terminal software system, a terminal software system design scheme of excitation system simulation tester based on Microsoft.NET is presented in this paper, which is more safe and efficient,more economical,and more easier to expanding.This paper firstly introduces research background,purpose and significance, and deals with research status and technical essentials of the excitation system simulation tester. Secondly software system needs including communication interface,oscilloscope component design and data-aided processing are analyzed in detail. Thirdly this paper focuses on the design and realization of USB communication interface. Then the paper discusses oscilloscope component functions of the software system such as multi-coordinate description matrix,real-time waveform displaying design and dragging or zooming of oscilloscope component and the coordinates. Subsequently the paper tells about data-aided processing functions of terminal software system such as using binary serialization to save and read the experimental result, exporting experimental data as Excel document. Finally innovations such as using different methods of memory management and next-to-do research work of the software system are proposed when summarizing the paper.
