Energy shortage and environment pollution are significant issues the society and industries are facing with. There are some disadvantages in using the traditional cold and heat source in the HVAC industry, such as high energy consumption, low energy efficiency and environment pollution. To develop and utilize new energies is an important means to solve this problem.This paper, choosing sewage source as the heat source, comparatively analyses the forms of auxiliary heat source according to the region characteristics of Lanzhou. Wave surface heat transfer plate is used creatively as the main heat transfer device on the sewage side.The discharge of sewage water in the area reaches 6666.7t/h with the temperature of above 13℃perennially and rich in its heat storage, which is a high quality renewable energy. Using sewage source heat pump is therefore chosen to be the main heat supply mode;Using a combined operating mode of peak-shaving boiler and sewage source heat pump is proposed in view of existing problems in the traditional sewage source heat pump technologies; and a gas-fired boiler room is chosen as the peak-shaving boiler room because of the abundant fuel gas, the low price, and its little environmental pollution comparing with coal-fired boiler. In order to solve the existing problems of low heat exchange efficiency and blockage, wave surface heat transfer plate is used as the heat transfer device on the sewage side creatively. Applicability is shown based upon the theoretical calculation and analysis, organization form of sewage flow is designed, and suitable size of the sewage pool is obtained. Behaviors of energy conservation, environmental protection, and economic efficiency are evaluated separately upon the oil-fired boiler, coal-fired boiler, gas-fired boiler, electric boiler and the combined operating system proposed in this paper; based on this evaluation, a comparison is made among the five plans mentioned above on the issues of energy, economic and engineering characteristics quantitatively using analytic hierarchy process, and the preferential order is obtained, which is:the combined operating system of sewage source heat pump and peak-shaving boiler> electric boiler system> oil-fired boiler system> gas-fired boiler system> coal-fired boiler system.
