The casing'contentment capability studying is an important part of aero-engine design. When blades on the rotor at a high speed fail, it may lead to serious aviation accident. Accordingly, adopting feasible design approaches to accommodate high-energy blades is necessitated. The thesis manly studies the contentment capacity of aero-engine casing structure, and analyzes the mechanism of single plate blade impacting on the casing, and establishes new criteria suit to impacting test.Shooting trials on target plate with stiffeners have been completed. The tests find that longitudinal stiffeners have a strong effect on preventing the target plates from bending, but have little effect on local shear deformation and the effects increase gradually by stiffeners becoming more. We also find that radial stiffeners not only have a good effect on preventing the target plates from bending, but also have effects on target plates' local shear deformation. But these abilities only are limited to center of radial stiffeners.To investigate the containment capability of metal target plates of different thickness such as 1,2,3,4mm, a series of impacting tests has been carried out in a facility. Single plate blade was used during the tests.After analyzing the mechanism of single plate blade impacting on the casing, this paper innovatively simplifies the process of blades impacting on casing to dynamic bending of sheet under strong loadings and target plate perforation problems. A new contentment analysis method is initially established. By numerical simulation, we analyzed the changes of energy, deformation and force of blades and the casings when impacting process occurred. Considering plastic deformation of blades, a new contentment criteria based on the energy conservation principle is established. This new criteria is more accurate and practical than the old criteria.
