Power grid planning is one of the most important parts in the power system. A robust power grid structure achieves better performance in coordination of power supply and demand, in optimization of power supply structure and in strengthening the mutual support among scale regional power networks. Power grid planning scheme is the foundation of the power grid construction, which assures upstanding economic and social benefit on the premise of reliable and secure operation.This paper deeply refers to Foshan power grid's engineering application research in the "12th five-year" power grid planning. The paper results contribute in guiding the development of the Foshan power grid "12th five-year"power grid constructing deployment for a modern power grid with rational construction, advanced technologies, optimal security and reliability, which will satisfies requirements from Foshan economical and social development.This paper aims to find out the vulnerable spot in the power grid with information from 2010 of power grid peak time loading situation, load flow situation, voltage level situation and so on. Reseach stands on a deep analysis of the region's current situation on industrial structure,Load characteristic,sources construction and the framework of grid. Basing on the load forecast in 2010-rolling-plan report, this paper integrates the social development to fine tuning the forecast, and to consider the lastest proceed of the power commissioning and retiring, using the Planning and Design Principle as a guidance to balance the power and to distribute transformer substations. Investigating variant 2012-2016 major power grid structures and adopting electrical calculation to check the power grid structure, selecting the recommended power grid structure via the comparison on polytecnics and economy. This paper analyzes the sensibility on newly applied power transformation projects for figuring the critical projects. It provides suggestion on deployment sequences with considering current deploying process. This paper provides estimation for project investment and economic features, as well as estimation to planning scheme. This scheme will be a close-loop feedback procedure.This paper figures out the actual operation and characteristics of Foshan power grid by analysis on the main facing problems and quantized analysis of multi-operational indices. Obeying the guidance from Foshan "12th five-year" power grid planning with consideration of demand development, power source development, power transmission and transformation design and practical situation, this paper achieves yearly-rolling revision for grid planning; optimization of deployment sequences and scales; and figures out the critical transmission and transformation projects by framework electric features calculation and analysis on influence of different project deployment opportune moments. This paper also introduces power grid construction critical indices and problems focused in the future with suggestions by estimation investment and economic feature of power transmission and transformation projects in the planning.
