Osmunda cinnamomea L. Fernald was a perennial herb plant of Fern. Wild plant resources of O. cinnamomea were mainly distributed in the northeast, southwest and central of China and the environment of the areas was great different from each other. Its rich nutrition edible part can be used to eat and was liked by people. The whole grass was used as medicines, instead of cytomium fortunei. It has the efficacies of heat-clearing and detoxifying, hemostasis and diuresis. Because of the higher application value, it lead to the over exploitation of resources and the reduction of wild plant resources. In the paper, it was explored the spore propagation and growth rule of O. cinnamomea by a survey on its ecological suitability and the dynamic change of nutritional components in different growth stage. It had significance to guide the cultivation taming, the spore propagation indoor and rational development and utilization of O. cinnamomea. The ecological adaptation results of O. cinnamomea showed that:there were significant differences in population densities, heights, crown widths and water contents. In the investigation on three kinds of representative habitats, the best population density of O. cinnamomea was 2.24 m2 of each plant in broadleaf forests and its population distribution was presented a typical population distribution.By analyzing on the nutrient of different growth stages of O. cinnamomea, it showed that:there was a trend of increasing first and decreasing subsequently on the contents of crude protein and free amino. The trend was uniform between crude fat and soluble sugar, the contents were decreased slowly and the highest was in the end of leaf roll. There was an increased trend slowly on crude fiber, ash and free amino and the content was the lowest in the end of leaf roll. The best comprehensive index was the end of leaf roll by comprehensive analysis to the contents of seven indexes in different stages. The investigation of spore propagation showed that:the optimum condition of formation gametophytes and sporophytes was 25℃,3500Lux, forests humus soil. In this condition, the shortest time was 33 days to form gametophytes and 71 days to sporophytes; there was significant difference comparing with other treatments, so the condition was the best one for the growth of O. cinnamomea spores.By studying on gametophyte seedlings of O. cinnamomea, it showed that:the best temperature was 25℃to the growth of gametophyte seedlings; it was significant difference in 15℃. The best light condition was 3500Lux; it was very significant difference in 500Lux and significant difference in 1500Lux; it was no significant difference in 2500Lux.
