ObjectiveTo help nursing professional college students better know themselves and future work environment, establish positive values, cultivate career planning management ability, this study is to design the nursing professional experiential career planning teaching scheme, discuss the feasibility and the teaching effect.MethodsFrom December 2009 to April 2010, using convenience sampling method, investigated the nursing professional career planning teaching statues in 14 nursing colleges in Henan province. Using convenience sampling method, investigated general demographic statues and career planning ability of 381 freshmen of nursing in a nursing college of Zhengzhou, analysis career planning ability statues and its influencing factors.From May 2010 to November, using convenience sampling method, chose 100 freshmen of nursing in a nursing college in Zhengzhou, randomly divided into two groups, each group 50 students. Experiential group using experiential teaching method, control group using traditional teaching method for career planning education. Nursing students'career planning ability was measured before and after education.Data was analyzed by the statistical software SPSS 17.0, statistical methods including descriptive statistical analysis, two independent sample t-test, matching t test,χ2 test, single factor analysis of variance, multivariate linear stepwise regression analysis, etc. Grounded theory was used to analysis interview data of nursing students.Test level a=0.05.Results1. In 14 nursing colleges of Henan province,9 open career planning courses. Less than 18 hours was 6 colleges.5 colleges using class teaching,4 colleges lectures forms.9 colleges introducing employment policy,7 colleges introducing interview skills,5 colleges conveying recruitment information, no career planning class containing self-exploration, professional exploration, career experience activities. Nursing students prefer scene simulation (62.93%), apprentice visit (81.90%) and case discussion (61.23%), practice exercises (61.21%).15.52% of nursing students like class teaching method.53.45% of nursing students had only a childhood dream, no students had detailed personal career planning.2. Career planning ability questionnaires were issued to 410 freshmen of nursing in a nursing college of Zhengzhou city, recycling 381 copies, efficient 93%. The average career planning ability score (201.31±10.67). The number of poor career planning ability was 112(29.40%), the number of average ability was 269 (70.60%). Career planning ability score from low to high in order:self-perception, professional value, professional planning, career choice, information application, personal debugging, career cognitive, professional attitudes.3. The teaching objects contained 8(8%) male nursing students,92(92%) female; Aged 17 to 21 (19.25±0.81) years. Before education, baseline of two groups was balanced (P>0.05).4. After education, two groups'career planning ability eight dimension scores and total scores higher than before, displayed statistically differences (P<0.05). Experiential groups' career planning ability eight dimension scores and total scores higher than control group, displayed statistically differences (P<0.05).Conclusion1. Henan nursing colleges'career planning education generally exists less hours, single teaching method and content, limite teaching effect.2. Nursing students did not think highly of career planning education. Nursing students'career planning ability was general or poor, existing self-perception deficiency, professional values of deviation and career planning skill deficiency.3. Nursing professional career planning education stimulated nursing students' career planning consciousness and improved their career planning ability.4. Experiential career planning teaching scheme suit nursing professional characteristics, including professional practice and career character interview, play a positive role in improving professional identity. This scheme is feasible.5. Experiential career planning teaching method is superior to the traditional teaching method, teaching style worth extending.
