This article consists of introduction, text and epilogue. The introduction is a brief conclusion based upon the achievements by the academics on the affix and class affix.This article expounds on the criteria of the class affix, such as semantic blur, fixed position and active creation of new words by analogy procedure. According to the judgement of the class affix and its fundamental features, we have limited its definition, classified its origin, position, translation and word-formation. We also discuss the correspondence problem of the class affix in Chinese and English on its structure, significance and function, and conclude the existence of the class affix, which grows out of social factors, the principle of economic efficiency, language analogy, language contact and the pursuit of new and strange usage of the language.According to the cases experienced in teaching Chinese as a second language, the writer has raised some points on the affix and class affix in the two syllabuses, Chinese Level and Grammar Outline and Chinese Vocabulary and Characters Grade Outline, and discussed the effective way of learning the class affix for the foreign students based on the language acquisition theory.In the epilogue, review articles of the development, this article and affix to compare, certainly typical affix the rapid development of large scale affix the facts, and promoting three-syllable word in the process of development cannot be underestimated played the role of, in the present also pointed out that for some time, the main status of Chinese composite word-formation won't change the facts.
