Issues In Land System Researches In The Spring And Autumn & Warring States Periods

The Spring and Autumn and Warring states periods were periods of great change in history. The land system as one of the most fundamental national system influences the social political and economic structure of the age. Since the 20th century, the land system of the Spring and Autumn and Warring states periods was an important topic that Chinese historiography field warmly talked about. In the framework of the theory of Five Social Patterns, the change of the land system in these periods was seen as one of the sign that the slave system transforms toward the feudalism system. In the last thirty years, although the discussion of the issues involved became cold, many questions and divergences hadn't settled. But sprout along with the related underground, some scholars believe that the land system was well-field system into a universal implementation of the National System of Granting Land, and then, to private ownership of land, which shows a misunderstanding of history. In essence, after the well-field system, private ownership of land had already entered the stage. The so-called "Granting Land" is the residual form of well-field system in some rich of land resources areas. In this thesis, analysis of cultural elements is adopted, starting from the well-field system, which wishes to more clearly explain the grain of the land system changes of these periods and parse the impact factor been subjected to in the changes and its mutual contacts and be as close to the historical truth as possible in order to avoid the lost of imaginary resulting from error, which contribute little to the study of pre-Qin.Thesis divides into three parts.The first part is the summary of the study situation on the field system since the 20th century. The controversy focuses on three aspects: discussion whether the field system exists, the periods, the nature. In an objective analysis of various perspectives, streamline consensus view has been put forward issues to be resolved. The second part focuses on the concepts relating to the well-field system and the factors of collapse. The description of the concept of "well-field" put forward by Mencius was relatively general, which may be understood easily in the prevailing social conditions, but there may exist anomaly on the understanding between the subsequent scholars. Through the discussion of the related concepts of "well-field", it is known to be the nation farmland system and its collapse is due to the combined effects of various factors in a long-term historical process but ending its historical mission in various countries at the same time .In the third part,starting discussion on"Granting Land"caused by the discovery of Shuihudi Qin bamboo slips,the forms of nation farmland system of Warring States Period are introduced and"Granting Land"based on the bamboo slips is not fixed system all countries widespreadly carried out but the well-field system in the wide rural or the system of granting noble title by military merit and the land sale existed at the same time.
