Textbooks play an important role in the process of teaching foreign students Chinese; however, many textbooks can not satisfy the students who study Chinese and the teachers who teach Chinese. Using these textbooks, many problems and obstacles appear. So in these years, many researchers have put forward that we should publish the textbooks according to different cultures and nations of the students. Recently, there are a few real textbooks for different nations and cultures though, for example, Thai study Chinese, A Discourse in Laos and so on; the number is so small that they cannot meet the need of students well. In addition, the relative research is so few, therefore, this thesis is trying to find the common and different point according to the data and finding through comparing Thai study Chinese and A discourse in Chinese. Based on this, the author tries to find the advantages and disadvantages of the country-specific textbook.Furthermore, the thesis will try to give some helpful advice to the textbooks to promote them.The first part is preface, which includes the present situation of publishing and using textbooks for foreign students, the conception of country-specific textbook and its situation of publishing and using. In addition, this part introduces the research theory, confine, method and meaning of this thesis.The second part mainly introduces two chosen textbooks and explains the reason that the author chose these two.The third part is the most important one, which compares and analyzes the two kinds of textbooks. The comparison and analysis includes:the aim and principle of compiling textbooks, pronunciation, words, grammar, contexts and exercise. The analysis is to find the common points and different points according to the survey form and to find the advantage and disadvantage of the country-specific textbook. After each part of comparison and analysis, the thesis will give some advice to promote the country-specific textbook. Finally, on the basis of all the finding of studying and analyzing, the goal of this thesis is to put forward the suggestion of promoting the quality of compiling country-specific textbook. The thesis aims at helping the researchers compile the books, and this is the innovation of this thesis.
