With the in-depth development of translation theories, the study of translation strategies---foreignization and domestication has developed from the level of ways of linguistic expression into the poetic, cultural and even political level. What's more, nowadays translation ethics shows more and more concern in the translation field, the focal study of foreignization and domestication has gradually changed into the aspect of morality and ethics. Exploring foreignization and domestication from the perspective of ethics of translation is to emphasize the translator's ethical consciousness in the translating process and his choice of translating strategies under the influence of such consciousness, that is, the translator's initiative is ruled and restricted by the ethics of translation.Translation is a kind of social activity and ethics is a rule to regulate human to human relations and behaviors in the human society, hence, the former needs guidance and regulation of the latter. Putting the ethics into the study of foreignization and domestication can help the translation study deeply and fully develop and provide more updated and scientific theory base to the translators in choosing the translating strategies. In the perspective of the ethics of translation, the thesis firstly overviews the development of foreignization and domestication and gives a brief introduction to the study of foreignization and domestication at home and abroad. Then the thesis combines foreignization and domestication with translation ethics, and above all with the translation ethics models proposed by Andrew Chesterman to discuss the foreignizing and domesticating translation. Moreover, the thesis stresses that foreignization and domestication will integrate and supplement with each other if the translator exceeds the state of foreignization in opposition to domestication and follows the "location" principle. The thesis finally employs the two English versions of Teahouse as a case study to analyze the embodiment of ethics of translation when the translator uses the translating strategies to present the close relation between translating strategies and translation ethics by way of carrying out the practical translation activity. It is hoped that the thesis will provide a different insight to the study of foreignization and domestication in the future.
