Wisdom is lofty and it is an eternal pursuit of human beings. The Orchestral Music "Kong Cheng" is a composition that expresses worship to the wise men. Meanwhile, it also hopes to raise people's attention and excavation to talents through highly extolling the wisdom of the ancients.The subject of "Kong Cheng" is "Wisdom in an Empty City", a story of war in ancient China, and is completed with the form of an orchestra. This paper used the composition as an object to try to elaborate relevant composition-techniques, the idea of creation and the holistic conception. This paper has four parts. Firstly, the holistic conception, the idea of creation, as well as the choice of subject and genre are stated in the preface. The second chapter expounds the works from different parts, as the mode, the control of core pitch, the use of rhythm, the structure features, the means of handling timbres in orchestration, the application of other composition-techniques, etc.The third chapter discusses the relationship between composition-technique and musical performance. It takes the depiction of image and the description of emotion as the main aspects discussed. Finally, in the conclusion, the author summarizes some of the technical application and the understanding of composing technique in the works.
