To investigate college students' networking behavior and its effect on the job-search outcomes,a College Students' Networking Behavior Scale was developed and a random sample of 385 graduates of four colleges in NanJing were chosen to take this survey. After data analysis, conclusions were draw and implications for university guidance services were also discussed. This study indicates that:1. College students' networking behavior contains three factors, they are building contacts, maintaining contacts and using contacts.2. The College Students' Networking Behavior Scale has high alpha reliability 0.875 and split-half reliability 0.816.Three factors are not only independent but also correlate moderately, which shows that the construct validity of the scale is good.3.The total score of college students' networking behavior is at the medium level, among which the score of maintaining contacts is the highest, followed by using contacts, and building contacts is the lowest.4.Significant differences of college students' networking behavior were found on seven variables, they are gender, major, family residence, family status.job expectation, leader experience and internship experience.5.There are correlations between college students' personality traits and their networking behavior.Extraversion, openness and agreeableness can positively predict networking behavior, while neuroticism plays a role as a negative predictor.6.There are correlations between college students'networking behavior and job search outcomes. When demographic variables are controlled, networking behavior can predict job opportunities, employment status and satisfaction. In detail, building contacts can positively predict job opportunities and employment status, while maintaining contacts can positively predict job opportunities, and using contacts can positively predict all the these factors.
