Strategies For Zhuxiang's Translation Of Poetry: Domestication And Foreignization

ZhuXiang's objective attitude towards the cultural differences exist between china and western countries lay a great foundation for his translation of English poetry. On the one hand ,his viewpoint has connected deeply with the cultural environment in which he has been nurtured . He was born in the year that Qing dynasty hadn't been overturned, so he has go to the school of the old times and learned from the teacher about Four Books and Five Classics. Year after year, the little boy has been cultivated by the old form of schooling into a student full of classical Chinese culture and has a great interest in DuFu's poetry and YuanQu. On the other hand ,those novel of Sienkiewica , Robert Louis Stevenson have already get his attention in his younger days ,and after zhuxiang entered into Qinghua university years later ,his great talent in English inspired him in reading English literatures and poems. Zhuxiang's cultural foundation are founding on the basis of the two aspects.However, the cultural circumstances also play an important role in laying his cultural foundation, for example ,communicating with the May Fourth studens'literature club,especially the Xinyue club , which have a great impact on his viewpoint about poetic translation:domestication and foreignization.He put his viewpoint about poetic translation into practice. On one part, he foreignze those poems from cadence, stanza,to Rhythm. on the other part, he exert his efforts in domesticating the artistic conception of those poems through translation.finally ,both two parts above mentioned are paving the way for his plan of"rebound Chinese poetry".Within this article,the first charpter is about zhuxiang's viewpoint in translation: domestication and foreignization; the first section is about his multicultural viewpoint,including his solid foundation for Chinese literature,exercises on literature;the second section is about his communication with the field ,including literature club esp. XinYue club ;the third section is about his creative exercises in writing poems.The second charpter is about the foreignization in cadence, stanza,to Rhythm during translation .the third charpter is about the domestication in artistic conception .As for the domestication and foreignization of poem translation, on which his plan zhuxiang's plan of"rebound Chinese poetry"has been based.
