Nowadays,Mandarin teaching, organized by Confucius Institute, has a impressive development in Madagascar. Besides the capital, several major cities have been or are about to set Chinese language learning centers up. However, for practically teaching, since the teachers know little about the mother tongue of students such as Malagasy and French, few solutions could be found, when facing the problems in phonetic teaching.Currently,for linguistic comparison of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, especially phonetic comparison, research focuses are limited to comparison between Chinese and English or Asian languages, such as Japanese, Korean and Thai. However, the research of language comparison between Chinese, Malagasy and French was less and insufficient. Therefore, theories are required by local Chinese language teaching.This thesis is going to discuss the local Chinese phonetic teaching from three main sections:The first section, Contrastive Analysis, focuses on Chinese, French and Malagasy. By introducing the phonetic system of these three languages, we compared the Chinese phonology with French and Malagasy phonology from consonants, vowels and tones. In this way, we can find the most possible obstacles of Madagascar students' Chinese phonetic learning.The second section would be error analysis, which target on the Chinese learners of Madagascar. Students have been tested by a phonetic exam and the error analysis is based on the result of it. The main errors on initials, finals and tones were concluded, and the possible reasons were induced.The third section will be a questionnaire research. The survey forms were completed by Chinese teachers of Confucius Institute in Madagascar. According to this questionnaire,the phonetic teaching circumstances for every teacher can be known. On the other hand,the questionnaire can also be referenced to the Chinese Teaching in Madagascar. Therefore,the solutions, which is based on the questionnaire, will be more concise and effective.Finally, main points of researches above were concluded. According to this conclusion,the phonetic teaching methods and tactics, which might be effective and fitted to the students of Madagascar, were provided.
