Facing the reality of networking and globalized higher education, the enlargement of recruiting college students, the diversification of student employment, and education structure adjustment, many new issues arise in the Chinese dance education. Dance education is an important part of quality education in universities, and it is also an important approach to enhance the students'humanity qualities.'The national art school education development planning (2001-2010)'that Issued by the Ministry of Education in 2002 made a more specific provision as follows:'Regular schools of higher learning should consider their own practical situations, create condition, offer all kinds of elective or finite elective arts courses to meet the students'different needs.'According to the above spirit, colleges and universities all over the country have made many effective explorations to popularize the dance education, and have obtained some achievements.Along with the deepening of quality education, it puts forward a higher demand for the dance education in the colleges and universities. This paper focuses on investigating, researching and thinking about how to improve the dance education of universities in the area of Xi'an as a representative. There are many problems have been found out such as follows:lack of teachers, teachers'levels needed to be further improved, lack of teaching resources, unhooking between the concepts and practical situations; without clear purposes, without scientific teaching methods, without apparent teaching effects, without strong influences, and poor management, etc.There are many reasons:firstly, the students'large demands conflict with their lack of dance consciousness and depth, which causes a deficiency in self-confidence; secondly, dance education has not been widely popularized, and a comprehensive and integrated quality education needs to be improved; thirdly, the overall level of teachers and the individual teacher's enthusiasm are not high; Fourthly, at present there still have not a unified, scientific and complete teaching outline, contents, teaching materials, and evaluation standard for dance education. As a result, it largely limits the popularization and development of dance education. Fifthly, different colleges and universities pay different attentions to dance education, and there is no scientific management. It results in an unhooking between the effects and the expected goals. So, as to how to strengthen and improve current situations, the author proposes such strategies as follows by documents research, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics analysis, and summary of research methods:firstly, definitize the significance and value of dance education; secondly, convert the intrinsic ideas, and perfect the education institutions and management system; thirdly, strengthen the teaching facilities, optimize the teaching staff, improve the comprehensive quality and professional level, and actively adjust and perfect the setting of the courses; fourthly, perfect the instructional modes, and improve the teaching contents and methods.In a word, as to the dance education of the regular institutions of higher learning, dance should be treated as a key to open the doors of the natural and social science, so as to improve college students'comprehensive qualities.
