The Debate Between Confuciusand Xiangtuo' Stibetan Version Study

Dunhuang is rich in its literary resources, which includes varieties fields of Tibetan and Chinese culture; it has precious historical values for understanding their political, economic and cultural relationships for at that time. Most importantly it's one of the few rare resources for studying the relationship between Tubo Dynasty and neighboring countries.Some of translated literary works exist among Dunhuang Manuscripts have a profound research values for getting to know Tibetan and Chinese translation traditions and achievements. The Debate Between Confucius and Xiangtuo is one of the earliest famous stories that very popular among Chinese and gradually it had spread to the border of Tibetan and Chinese. After translation of the story into Tibetan, once again it has shown its unbelievable vitality and adopted it by the people of Tibetans. Thus, this literary work provides miscellaneous information about the society, cultural exchange, people's daily life, and especially how this translation work had a great impact on the level of Tibetan and Chinese cultural exchange and translation activity itself.This as say is divided into three chapters. In ChapterⅠ, discuss and describe the different versions of this literary work, their age, and purpose of translation. In ChapterⅡ, take paraphrase translation methods from Tibetan translation book of Drajor Bamnyi, to discuss The Debate Between Confucius and Xiangtuo's translation techniques and make my own corrections for mistranslated sentences. In ChapterⅢ, mainly focus on the explanation of this literary work's historical, literary and cultural values.
