As the interest in learning Mandarin Chinese increases worldwide, many Thai students are choosing to study abroad in China. At the same time, Mandarin Chinese has become a popular language option locally in Thailand. The main focus of this research paper examines the unique "ba" sentence grammar rule in the Chinese language. The "ba" sentence grammar structure is a common grammatical rule that many Thai students struggles with and has in turn evidently shown to hinder their advancement in their Chinese proficiency level. The common errors on students' homework assignments and in class exercise are closely examined by using students from Silpakorn University as test subjects. Error analysis are made through methods of survey questionnaires, interviews and evaluation assessments, In summary, the main problems that introductory level Thai students face with "ba" sentence structure revolves around incorrect sentence structures, psychological barriers, directional verb errors; incorrect match of complements, object and negative adverbs. Moreover, the limited understanding of Chinese grammar of introductory level students makes it difficult to understand the complex "ba" sentence grammatical structure. As students' proficiency level increases, the "ba" sentence structure often gets mixed up and confused with the other grammar rules that they already struggle with. In addition, the teacher plays an important role in helping students understand the applications of "ba" sentence and how to correctly use them. In a sense, when the teacher fails to properly teach the use of "ba" sentence, it is believed that the negative effect is bigger than students' own strategic learning processes. As a result, this paper also examines constructive lesson plans and strategic teaching approaches to help Thai students understand the importance of "ba" sentence in Chinese grammar and the correct usage of "ba" sentence structures.
