Cultural Factors Of The Chinese As A Foreign Language Teaching Materials Research

Western anthropologists started to recognize the relationship between language and culture and studied them together from early 19th century.With further rearch , in the late 60's and early 70's of 20th century , the US and Russian scholars proposed two subjects which were the cross-cultural communication and language learning conditions. In our coutry , the outstanding linguist Mr Luo Changpei is the first one who study of the relationship between language and culture . His book"Language and Culture " analyzing the relationship between language and culture through words, was regarded as the foundation of Chinese cultural Linguistics . At the same, foreign language teaching and research begun to be attracted with the first group of Polish students to study Chinese in the early 50's of 20th century. But foreign language as a comprehensive disciplines begun to be studied from 80's last century, so far, already 30 years. After years of exploration and practice,foreign language teaching in the overall design, materials preparation, classroom teaching, language testing have already accumulated considerable experience. Teaching Chinese as an important part of culture has entered a new stage.This paper is to discuss foreign language and teaching problems.We selected the reading course "Intermediate Chinese Intensive Reading(Ⅰ) "and"Intermediate Chinese Intensive Reading (Ⅱ) "published by Peking University Press, 1999 , the "New Chinese Course (second) specifically designed for language teaching published by the Commercial Press International Co Ltd 1997,the course book "Development of Chinese - Elementary Chinese (first)","Development of Chinese- Elementary Chinese (second) published by Peking University Press 2006 and the last book is "Chinese traditional culture and modern life"published by Peking Uninversity Press. From the perspective of the relationship between language and culture ,we mainly inspected the position of cultural factors ,the cultural content ,methods and a series of related issues . Also we use statistical methods for teaching material and those analysising cultural factors for the sake of exploring the basic methods in foreign language teaching . My paper is divided into five chapters : the first chapter is "introduction" related to clarify the reason why to choose this subject and the significance of the topic ,as well as the development of foreign language teaching ; chapter two introduces the source of culture and the relationship between culture and language;chapter three proposes the content and classification of culture ; chapter four mainly analyses the six criteria for those selected textbooks and statistics the cultural factors in the purpose of investigating the "cultural factors " and "cultural factors " in the imported materials.The final chapter is a summary which aims to propose through analysing the selected materials .
