Chapter four focused on three movies focalization narrative patterns from different levels and multiple perspectives to describe the objective external environment and to explore the inner world of characters. Joyce illustrated their respective life experiences, spiritual life and inner world vividly and showed the most abundant stream of consciousness connotation by a simple plot, whose contents extended to the Dublin politics, history, philosophy, psychology and other areas. In short, in Ulysses Joyce got rid of the limitations of time and space and skilfully controlled the character through the montage to explore their inner world and by means of the multi-focalization narrative mode he showed people's mental crisis in Ireland and even the whole western world from the unique artistic perspective.
