Chinese Adverbs "jiu" And "cai" And Teaching The Two As A Foreign Language

Chinese adverbs "jiu" and "cai", because of its high frequency of use, variousmeanings, and the complex relationship between the two, flexible usages; has becometypical adverbs in modern Chinese. Also because of such, this two adverbs hasbecome the focus and difficulty in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.First of all, the thesis has classified the adverbs "jiu" and "cai" of each item, andhas briefly summarized the commonly used basic syntactic structures. In addition, thethesis also gives13kinds of related sentence patterns, and focusing on the analysis ofsome similar semantic sentence pattern.Secondly, this paper was closed statistics the output of adverbs "jiu" and "cai"in<Boya hanyu>(first five volumes),which is used by International Cultural ExchangeCollege of Xinjiang University as intensive reading materials. Having discoveried thepros and cons of the textbook's writing, concerning the adverbs "jiu" and "cai" as alanguage and non-language points. Some Suggestions also has proposed.Thirdly, this paper adopts listening test and questionnaire method, to studentsfrom Central Asia, who was study in Xinjiang University International CulturalExchange College of Xinjiang University as the research object. Having investigatedthe acquisition about the adverbs "jiu" and "cai". According to the statistics andanalysis results, found those meanings and patterns which the Central Asian studentshave been acquired and which have not. More over, four common types of errors alsohave been summarized.Finally, according to the test and investigation results, this thesis has put forwardfive corresponding teaching suggestions. Hopeing this thesis may play a positive role,and provide some beneficial enlightenment in the teaching of adverbs "jiu" and "cai",as well as, other Chinese adverbs in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
