The Value Orientation Of Cultural Consciousness

Cultural consciousness means the subject's awareness of the cultural context. During the social practice and social development, Professor Fei Xiaotong pointed out theoretically that the meaning of the researching of cultural consciousness is to let the people aware of the cultural context, the origin,, history, feature and the development tendency. This kind of awareness is for the sake of enhancing the autonomous ability during the cultural transformation and earning independence of the cultural choice which fits in with the new environment in the new age. Hence the cultural consciousness, which can make best use of the advantages and bypass the disadvantages while judging the hour and sizing up the situation, is helpful for the guidance of cultural value orientation and the designing of the development tendency. Therefore in today's development situation, the cultural value orientation of the cultural consciousness in China has two targets. Vertically on the time axis, it must find the new fulcrum of development prospects by both inheriting and creating. Horizontally on the space axis, it must find the self-identity in the current situation and appreciating both our own culture and other people's culture, seeking the universal harmony of cultural diversification. The Chinese characteristic socialist culture which led by Marxism as the highest guiding ideology and follows the historical materialism is the realistic basis of value orientation of the cultural consciousness. It can structure the advancing culture accords with the value demand and value standard of the national culture. This article,starting with the culture consciousness, makes a special effort to analyse the value orientation of culture consciousness and provides a new angle of view for the construction of the Chinese characteristic socialist cultural. The article is presented as three parts.The first part expatiate on the producing and value significance of culture consciousness and the theoretical basis of the survival and development of culture consciousness. The theory of culture consciousness with the guidance of Marxist cultural values and attitudes is the consciousness of the object. It's the self-examination after the understanding of the subject--culture reaches a high level. The existence of the theory allows the critical heritage of traditional culture and the sublation and innovation of new culture. The second part discusses the meaning, essence and characteristic of the value orientation of culture consciousness. The value orientation of culture consciousness, according to certain standards of value and behavioral requirement, allows people to choose the culture which accord with time and the developmental needs of the nation. This kind of value orientation of culture consciousness plays a noticeable rule in constructing the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics because of its essential factor and structural features. The third part explains the pursuit of the value orientation of culture consciousness. Chinese communists are unwavering Marxist and take Marxist theories as the guideline and value standard in structuring the advancing value orientation of culture consciousness. Chinese communists, with practical experiences, keep advancing the culture consciousness and provide the theory of cultural construction and promoting the cultural prosperity and will finally improve the cultural soft power of the nation and the comprehensive national strength, accomplish the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.In addition, theoretical questions will deepen as time goes on. There will be more difficulties in the study of the value orientation which requires further research.
