The STARTALK program is fully financed by the U.S. government, aiming at cultivating the professional persons who can use the "critical language". Associated Colleges in China (ACC in short) is a famous Chinese language program in Teaching Chinese as Second Language. ACC-STARTALK Chinese Teacher Training Program is a sub-project of ACC, which developed the abilities of language using, the theories of second language teaching and the skills of teaching for non-native Chinese teachers.This issue takes2011-ACC-STARTALK Chinese Teacher Training Program as object of observation, setting up five dimensions including textbook compiling, teaching management, curriculum building, teaching methods and assessment methods. Document analysis method, questionnaire method, focus groups interview method and observation method were used as the research methods, as well as combination of the qualitative and quantitative research methods to analyze the program. Proposing the advantages of ACC-STARTALK including accurate front-end analysis, targeted curriculum, high-efficiency mode of operation as well as theory and practice is a combination of teaching methods and other advantages. Finally the paper concluded the advantages in accurate frontal analysis, pertinent curriculum setting, efficient operation model and teaching methods combining theory and practice of ACC-SRARTALK, and raised several suggestions for Chinese short-term Chinese teacher training program.
