At present, China is in a significant period of social transition. On one hand, we are experiencing a rapid economic growth. On the other hand, the social stratification becomes increasingly polarized. Different social stratum and interest groups tend to appeal for distinct interests. Under such a circumstance, the uneven regional development and deep-going reform of the economic system result in a great deal of social contradictions that leads to more and more group affairs in recent years with continuously expanding scale, growing dissemination, and elevating violence. This phenomenon seriously affects the stability of our social. After thorough studies on the typical group affairs of District G in the city of Dalian, this thesis presents a systematic analysis of group affairs, and exploits the evolutionary game theory to model and simulate them. The main contribution of this study is as follows.First, based on the survey of related theories, the conditions of District G of Dalian City are overviewed. Afterward the instability factors in District G are illustrated and classified. Furthermore, typical group affairs in District G happening during its urbanization process are discussed and analyzed, on the basis of which the features of the above affairs are summarized.Second, we employ the evolutionary game theory to model the group affairs in District G of Dalian. The causes, evolution, development, and consequences of those affairs are then discussed. Moreover, we also analyze the results when two parties in the game of group affairs accept different strategies.Third, we utilize Netlogo tool to simulate the typical group affairs taking place in District G of Dalian. Simulation results illustrate that their occurrence, spread, dynamic evolution, dynamic stability, and convergence are closely related to the emergency pre-proposals and disposals of government. The group affairs can be effectively controlled as long as the government chooses reasonable solutions and emergency disposals, and meets entirely or partially the group's requirements. Finally, according to the analysis and simulation based on evolutionary game theory and current situations of emergency disposal system for group affairs in District G, this thesis put forwards several policy proposals in terms of three stages, namely before-affair (pre-warning), during-affair (spread and dynamic balanced), and after-affair (convergence).
