The Research On Female Consciousness In Chinese Female Documentaries

Since the 1990s, the feminist thought has been accessing to China and a totally new word"Female Consciousness"has been brought to Chinese people, which means a kind ofself-consciousness about women. The new era of women shoulder multiple roles in society,family and self. The goal pursued by women is to achieve self-value and social value. Womenare showing their elegant appearance in a unique way.Films and television programs always originate from life, which are the generalizationand performance of social cultural connotation. For a long period of time, the right of speechin the film and television area has been hold by the men. The topics which focused on history,society and responsibility were basically from the male perspective. With the coming of DVtime, a number of excellent female producers who produce independent female documentarieshave been brought forward. They made objective and real records of the female roles aboutself, family and society through their unique perspective. In their works, the traces of femaleconsciousness could be more or less revealed.Under the background in the patriarchal society, when the female consciousness iscoming into people's life, it is also suppressed and interfered by the male chauvinism,Patriarchal thought and traditional Chinese culture. The female documentaries in China are inthe confusion stage of development, facing mass of problems with few theoretical supportsand marginalization.Female documentaries have made very important contribution to establishing anddeveloping female consciousness, whose development has also played a positive role inpromoting female consciousness. This article briefly introduces the implications of femaleconsciousness and female documentaries, including its development in China. Its main job isto analyze the positive side and problems presented by the female consciousness in theChinese female documentary directors'works. By the analysis of the female consciousness inthe Chinese female documentaries, this article focuses on attracting more attention to thefemale consciousness and female documentaries, promoting the awakening and developing offemale consciousness, and appealing the real return of female consciousness in femaledocumentaries.
