The Research On Student Affairs Management Of Multi-campus University In China

Since the 1990s, the merger and extension of launched on a large scale around the country, so that a great number of multi-campus universities were set up. The multi-campus universities did play a positive role in solving the problems caused by the expansion of enrollment and the lack of educational resources, while bringing new challenges in management.The paper starts from the formation and types of multi-campus university, and make an analysis on the current situation of student affairs in multi-campus university in China. The most serious problems are as follows:firstly, the system of student affairs management is not perfect; secondly, the student affairs management costs more; thirdly, the contradictions between campus functional orientation and students' individual needs become serious; fourthly, it has great challenges in developing the campus culture; finally, the number of the student with psychological problems grows. Then, the author analyzes the reasons from both subjective and objective factors.The paper compares the difference in organizational structure, management mode and operating mechanism of student affairs between China and foreign countries, by using the methods of investigation, interview and literature searching. The author did the research based on the experience of foreign countries and the practice of Shandong University. In order to solve those problems, the author innovated on the management mode and tried to propose a new management mechanism and a new organizational structure system of student affairs in multi-campus university in China, under the principle of systematic, scientific, effective, multifarious and innovative.In terms of the management mechanism, it is suggested to make a centralized decision and overall plan the works about ideological and political education, student affairs and development guidance by the committee of student affairs, while starting a plenty of professional student development guidance centers. In the mean time, the appropriate distribution of management powers and lowering the management focus would increase the autonomy and direction of campuses and colleges. In terms of the organizational structure, it is suggested to establish decision-making institutions, accredited institutions and operating institutions in different levels of the university.In the end, the paper gives some operable strategy and methods in order to solve the problems of the student affairs management of multi-campus university in China, such as building an internet communicative platform, strengthening the students' subjective consciousness.
