On The Problems Of The Development Of Higher Normal Education In Anhui Province

The higher normal education belongs to the high level normal education, which specializes in educating teachers for basic schools, it includes both the undergraduate level and college level education. As the "work hen" of talent education, the higher normal education is the basic project to improve the whole nation's quality. In the era of mass higher education and the processes of higher education from closing-off and independence to opening-up and diversity, it has important theoretical and practical significance to explore a development way which is fitted with the actual provincial conditions for Anhui higher normal education.The higher normal education in Anhui Province dated back from the late Qing Dynasty, by now it has been 100 years. It has walked through five different periods, they are development in initial stage, development in ebbs and fall, vigorous development, setbacks development, all-round steady development and rapid development. After a century's development, Anhui Normal Education has made remarkable achievements. By the end of 2010, There are two provincial normal universities, four undergraduate normal colleges, six undergraduate colleges with teacher education's goal and three specialized normal colleges. After the founding of the PRC, the normal colleges and universities have trained a large number of teachers for primary and middle schools, and made great contributions to the development of Anhui basic education.In the new period, Anhui higher normal education is also facing lots of challenges and problems, such as development scale, education model, program and curriculum structure, students'educational practice and employment.It needs to draw on foreign experience, especially the experience of transition on training model of teacher education in Britain, America and Japan to promote the healthy development of Anhui higher normal education. And I'd like to make some suggestions to solve the problems that have existed in the development of Anhui higher normal education based on its provincial characters. Firstly, make strong belief of "normal education" and innovate its training model; Secondly, concentrate on program construction and speed up integration of its programs; Thirdly, enhance the curriculum construction and reconstruct higher normal educational curriculum; Fourthly, pay attention to students' educational practice and improve their practical abilities; Fifthly, care students' employment and strengthen employment guidance and services.
