Southeast Guizhou Miao Women Hair

This article is based on the fieldwork research to study tentatively the Miaowomen's hair-style culture in southeast of Guizhou province. The particular culturalsign—women's hair-style is the key part of the article. It illustrates the symbolicmeaning of the hair-style and the cultural phenomenon of creation and translationwhen it is recognized the cultural confirmation. This paper follows the theory andresearch methods of ethnology and cultural anthropology to analyse the hair-style andits cultural meaning.The paper includes the preface,the text and the conclusion.Preface:In this part, it introduces mainly the purpose and significance of thetopic,the topic's research status,the fieldwork point selection and explanation,and theresearch methods and contents.Chapter 1:In this part, it describes and analyses the overview of the Miaowomen's hair-style in southeast of Guizhou province mainly based on the Chineseliterature, field ethnography and history memory of the Miao women. By this, we canunderstand as one cultural characteristics, the hair-style's type evolution in the historyand the specific reasons for this change caused.Chapter 2:Under the guidance of the ceremony symbolism of symbolicanthropology, it analyses the scene classification, structural composition and symbolicorder of the Miao women's hair-style.Chapter 3:Using the "historical memory"made by the Miao women in southeastof Guizhou province for the hair-style's historical changing, this chapter probes aseries of ethnic identity and the process of cultural identity in the dynamic historicalchange of the Miao women's hair-style.Chapter 4:Through the cultural interpretation for the hair-style and its naturalenvironment, symbols, folk beliefs and social changes and aesthetic,this chapterfurther to analyse the meaning of the Miao women's hair-style as it was recognizedthe materialization of the existence of "codes". Conclusion:Through the above analysis to explain the Miao women hair-style'scultural meaning in human activities,and to explore the historical plight and the futureof the Miao women hair-style for the identities vague from "before changing "to "afterchanging"...
