As a higher education group, college students not only possess the large stock of knowledge, but bear the various stresses. With the college recruitment expansion and the canceling of employment distribution institution, the number of college student increase a lot so that the competition in university is more and more intense and they have to bear tremendous employment stress, which make them give birth to intense mental conflict and have a bad influence on their mental heath. As a result, there unavoidably exist many problems on their coping with stress and frustration. Coping styles include strategies, methods or means in which people cope with the various conditions and the relevant emotional disturbance. During the four years learning, college students have developed some certain thinking styles and the self-efficacy that will more or less influence their choices of coping styles. Therefore, the deep research on the situation of college students'thinking style and general self-efficacy and coping styles as well as their correlativity not only is useful for their development of mental health and completion of school work and career choices, but of great significance on the social stability and"the strategy of invigorating the country through science and education".This study adopted questionnaire method and 538 subjects were chosen to take part in the research. All of them are from freshman to senior in Shantou University and South China Normal University. The investigation tools are Thinking Style Inventory and General Self-Efficacy Scale and Coping Style Scale. The basic condition and correlativity of college students'thinking styles and general self-efficacy and coping styles are the main target of this study. All the data are analyzed by the EXCEL2003 and SPSS18.0. We find that:1. Comparatively, most of college students like legislative, hierarchic, executive, external and liberal thinking styles. Typical thinking styles which college students prefer are hierarchic, external and liberal thinking styles. There is significant difference on the sex, major, region and grade for college students'thinking styles.2. Most of college students choose the positive coping styles and less of them choose the negative ones when confronting the stress and frustration. There is significant difference on the sex, major, region and grade for their coping styles.3. College students commonly own the comparatively high general self-efficacy. There is significant difference on sex, major and grade for the general self-efficacy, but not on region.4. There are significant correlations between college students'preferences of thinking styles and every factor on coping styles. Legislative, executive, judicial, hierarchic, external and liberal thinking styles have the significantly positive correlation with the positive coping styles. Internal has the significantly negative correlation with the positive coping styles. Monarchic, oligarchic, global, internal and conservative thinking styles have the significantly positive correlation with the negative coping styles. Legislative, hierarchic, external and liberal thinking styles have the significantly negative correlation with the negative coping styles.5. There is significant correlation between college students'general self-efficacy and coping styles. Problem-solving as well as self-accusation have the significantly positive correlation with the general self-efficacy. Resorting has the significantly negative correlation with the general self-efficacy.
