Study habit is that a student doesn't need to be supervised in the long process of student practice. It is an important aspect. Bacon said:" Custom is a stubborn and great power. It can dominate people's life. Therefore, people from childhood should develop a good study habit." People who succeed in academic have good study habits. And it is the key issue for primary school students to form good study habits. We should catch the golden time to train them so that they can obtain the solid foundation for their lifetime learning. In the practical teaching, the author has discovered that there are big difference between urban students and rural students about their study habits. The former are superior to the latter in listening to classes, previewing their lessons, doing their homework and as a result, their grades are also better than the rual students'. Urban students are actively involved in class participation, deep thinking and brave inquiry. Besides, they read a lot. However, the rural students are inferior in these aspects, but they are more hard-working and independent. At present, most studies on study habits are focused more on middle school students than primary students in terms of specific subjects, such as Chinese, Mathematics and English and so on. In addition, Of these researches, educational experts care more for theoretical explanation, the importance of habit training and learning methods of analysis more than the practical life of the particular group--primary school students. The author intends to find out the causes of the problems of primary school students and some effective ways to help them form good study habits in order to improve their learning capacity, in hence, to improve their quality and meanwhile to facilitate the author to update her teaching concept. What's more, through this research, the author hopes to provide some suggestions and practical examples for others. This paper adopts the following methods such as literature, questionnaire, observation, interview and case study to investigate 1150 students on their study habits from four schools in Guilin city, Guilin outskirts, counties and countrysides respectively. In addition, the author questionnaires and interviews 480 parents,220 teachers and 10 leaders from these four schools and observes some classes, teaches personally and checks some students'exercises books in order to find out the problems and advantages among these areas. The questionnaire consists of seven parts:students'personal details, learning attitude, preparation to study, the habit of listening to teachers, of homework, of revision and of extracurricular reading habits.Conclusion:1. Gender difference. Girls are better than boys in their study habits. The reason is that girls demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and discipline. They work harder and more carefully. But some head teachers'gender can impact a few classes.2. Age difference. The pupils in Grade 3-4 are obviously inferior to those in Grade 5-6 in class learning while revision is on the contrary. This is the same case in extracurricular reading habits as well.3. Area difference. In this aspect, there are some differences on learning attitude, learning habits in class, the habits of doing homework and the habits of extracurricular reading.Based on the findings, the following strategies are put forward: 1.Level-based Teaching. Different strategies can be employed to different students according to their age difference and gender difference so as to cultivate their good study habits purposively. 2.Example-setting Methods. A good example has great influence on students, so setting a good example in a class is a useful way to develop the students'study habits. 3.Mutual help and cooperation to a win-win situation. Teachers and parents from rural areas and urban areas help each other to share resources and become mature in developing the students' study habits.4. Home-school cooperation and community cooperation. This is a combined way to realize the cooperation between school education, home education and social education, which will help the formation of the students' good study habits.Creativity and Limitations:This paper focuses on the particular group----Grades 3-6 as the study object and makes a systematically research on the differences of their study habits formation from the perspectives of researcher and teacher based on the combination of educational theory and teaching practice. As to the difference of the study habits between urban students and rural students, this paper puts forward some principles, paths and approaches of cultivating pupils' learning habits. Different cultivating strategies are suggested in terms of schools and families, which will facilitate the communication between the teachers, promote students' development, improve teachers' teaching and remind parents of family education. However, there are still some limitations in this paper. One's study habits include many aspects, but this paper just selects some aspects of study habits to study. What's more, the sample is not big enough, just only four schools chosen. There are still some defects in the questionnaire. For example, the family factors which influence students' study habits are mentioned and analyzed. In the future study, the author will continue to study further on this issue.
