Since the year 2005 a new set of textbooks Advance with English has been adopted in Jiangsu Province for the reason of the New High School Curriculum Standards, which is an important reform in English teaching of our province. This set of textbooks fully reflects the transform of learning approaches and teaching philosophies. The Project part in the textbook is a particular breakthrough in modern English teaching, changing from focusing on the language to concentrating on the students. In the study of this part, the students need to finish the task through group discussion, cooperation, inquiry, etc and grasp the relating knowledge about this topic. Meanwhile, the teacher should try his or her best to raise students'interests, organize group discussion, offer necessary help for the students and make an assessment on the results of the students'work. However, in our daily work, the teaching aims of this part can not be realized smoothly because of a lack of effective strategies.This thesis aims at studying the teaching design of Project in Advance with English. The author of this essay expects to summarize some approaches to achieve the teaching aims of Project better by combining three great theories, namely the Humanistic Theory, the Constructivist teaching theory and the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, with her own teaching experiences. After a year's combination of theory and practice, it is proved that the teacher can raise students'interest and positivity in learning Project on condition that he or she can use a scientific teaching model, offer a teaching design appealing to the students'feature, organize the class properly and give timely guidance in class. Only in that way, will the students become the real centre of English learning.
