| Elementary grades of primary school refers to the age group from about six to nine years old, that is from Grade One to Grade Three in primary school. Children of this age group like rich variety of colors and show great interest in children drawing. This stage is also the golden age of children's art activities, during which children drawing gradually form relatively complete images from bitty symbolization. Those unusual but wonderful thinking, most excellent splendid and colorful children's art works come into being during this period. Art education is obviously effective to the cultivation of children's comprehensive and overall qualities at this age. Experts at home and abroad have made concrete and thoroughly researches aiming at both psychological, physiological characteristics and painting features of children at this age group. While in China, researches on art teaching mode which are suitable for children of this group are still not enough.This thesis is based on theories of pedagogy and psychology. It is established in new art course standard and uses past experience of children's art teaching for reference. In thesis, effective teaching mode is proposed, aiming at children's art teaching in elementary grades of primary school, in expect of changing the unitary status of traditional art teaching mode. In the thesis, students with art specialty are objects of research. The author takes the children's art teaching who are with art specialties at Xinxiang Children's Palace as examples, proposes suitable teaching strategies for children's art teaching aging about six to nine years old and builds this mode through two aspects: teaching contents and patterns for teaching and learning. The author also designs teaching and rethinks it profoundly through teaching practices. At the end of the thesis, the author proposes further advices for children's art specialty teaching in elementary grades of primary school.This thesis could be divided into six parts. In the first part, the author makes a generally introduction to the problem, research status at home and abroad, research purpose, research methods, innovative points and shortcomings of this thesis. In the second part, the author analyzes the characteristics of children's age, psychology and painting in elementary grades of primary school; compares new course standard and makes a objective evaluation to traditional art teaching mode; proposes the significance of children's art teaching mode in elementary grades of primary schools. In the third part, the author clears up children's painting works and concludes their features according to the characteristics and teaching law of art teaching; designs art teaching contents, in which children's interest, imagination and creativity can be formed. In the fourth part, the author learns the current patterns for teaching and learning in art class and makes a deep discussion on cooperative learning which is employed in elementary grades of primary schools. In the fifth part, the author made teaching practices at art class of Xinxiang Children's Palace, checkout shortcomings and proposed suggestions for improvement.
