Historical figures refer to the human groups or individuals that have important influence in the process of historical development, have left footprints on the history of mankind and exert significant positive or negative effects on the human history. Historical figures constitute one of the important elements of history, which also constitute an important part of historical teaching and research.With the development of the basic education course reform, the teachers and students pay more and more attention to historical figures teaching. The writer considers that the history lesson bears the tasks to cultivate the basic culture knowledge, moral conception and life quality of a teenager when he or she is just in his or her growth time. As a whole, it bears the commitments to shape the social morality and national quality. The correct teaching and distinguishing about the historical figures and their activities on one hand meet the requirements of the new curriculum, on the other hand are in line with the students'age and psychological characteristics. The historical figures teaching have important meaning on improving the students'interest in historical learning, enriching students'historical knowledge, raising students'historical thinking, improving international mind and the formation of correct conception of life, value and world.Understanding the important significance of historical figures teaching in historical teaching in senior high school, following certain principles in history teaching and using proper means and methods to teach are the assurances of improving history teaching in senior high school. Historical figures constitute an important part of history teaching and history teaching research. .The correct teaching and distinguishing about the historical figures and their activities on one hand meet the requirements of the new curriculum, on the other hand are in line with the students'age and psychological characteristics.With the guidance of the new curriculum standers, this paper fully absorbs and learns the relevant research results; incorporate the writer's teaching practice and focuses on the analysis of categories of historical figures, teaching meaning, teaching principles and teaching approaches and methods.This paper consists four parts besides the preface.Chapter One: the categories of historical figures. It can be categorized according to three criteria: the different functions in historical occurrences, the different influences in historical development and different contributions in historical development.Chapter Two: The significance of historical figures in historical figures teaching in junior high school. This chapter described the significance of historical figures teaching from four parts: to help cultivate students'emotion, attitude and conception of value; to improve the interest of students'historical learning; to improve students'ability; to improve students'historical knowledge learning.Chapter Three: The teaching principles of historical figure teaching in junior high school. The paper elaborates on the teaching principles from four aspects: the principle of scientific and ideological unity, the principle of inspiration, the principle of vividness and the principle of explicitness.Chapter Four: The approaches and methods of historical figures teaching in junior high school. This part plays a key role in the paper. From classroom teaching and extra-curricular activities these two aspects the paper makes a thorough elaboration on the approaches and methods of historical figures teaching in junior high school.
