Constructivism is a view point of study, which is developed on the basis of cognitivism. It suggested that study should not be passively learning the knowledge taught by teacher, but be a positive constructive activity based on the knowledge and experience of the learner himself. Namely, the study of students should be a process, in which the learner constructs new cognitive structure by initiative exploration and communication. Teaching design for geography in junior high school must promote the initiative construction of geographical cognitive structure.Here, current research situation of geography teaching design based on constructivism theory in junior high school, the generation and development of constructivism, learning view of constructivism theory, and teaching view of constructivism theory were analyzed. Additionally, the connotation of geography teaching design in junior high school and new consciousness that should be obtained by teacher using constructivism theory in teaching design, were elucidated. Basic principle and basic structure for geography classroom teaching design in junior high school were proposed. Finally, geography classroom teaching design for junior high school were applied in teaching practice, and thinking was also made.In the present paper, theoretical instruction and teaching practice were comprehensively combined, aimed at making teachers obtained new ideas, trains of thought and methods, making geography classroom more vivid, and making students ardently love the geographical classroom.
