School is the basic educational institution. The basic educational policies and systems are reflected in school management which aims to optimize different educational elements and allocate educational resources rationally; making sure the school management is in order and effective. At the same time the positive factors from different aspects can be combined together to get the best effect in school management. The development and evolution of our society have a great influence on the goal, task, and means of school management. Nowadays we are in an age of information, globalization and diversity. With the development of society and economy, people's living standards have been greatly improved and people communicate with each other through different channels and in different ways, as a result, their visions have been broadened and their values are diversified. In such circumstances, people expect more on the efficiency and efficacy of school management. Reforms in school management have become a trend to adapt to the changing China and people's high expectation.The reforms in school management is a systematic and lasting endeavor, in an effort to reform the learning environment, other related factors and get to the educational goal in the end. One of the effective ways to realize the reforms in school management is to diagnose and analyze the present management and then make up effective and specific reforming program which is used to guide and promote the school management. In the process, schools may become more active and energetic as a whole. It can adapt itself to the economic, political and scientific policies and reforms. In this way, the school management, quality of education and social effect may be improved. Present practice manifests professional diagnosis as well as self-diagnosis of school can play an important role in the reforms of school management.The reforms of school management based on professional diagnosis aroused great attention of researchers. Professional diagnosis of school management refers to professionals collect real and useful information in the target school and makes diagnosis of school management as to make practical and specific reforming plans. With the follow-up guide of professionals, enthusiasm and necessity of self-development of the target school can be motivated; it can help target school realize its self-development making use of the potentials and all possible positive educational resources both in and out of the school.The professional diagnosis of school management can analyze deeply the problems the target school. Professionals can make diagnostic evaluation of target school because "the outsiders can see most of the game". Compared with the evaluation made by the department of educational supervision, the professional diagnosis can get real and useful information which is more objective and effective without the anxiety and hostility of the target school. In this sense, the research of the professional diagnosis is of great importance.Taking elementary school management in Rizhao as examples, the thesis elaborates on the concept of professional diagnosis of school management, its characteristics and procedure. After analyzing the basic situation of present school management and its main problems, the diagnosis on factors and contradictions holding back effective school management can be clear. In the thesis proposals covers different aspects of school management namely, educational philosophy, values, management system, operating mechanism, curriculum designing, practice of teaching, education and promotion of teachers, cultivation of students, students' moral education, characteristics and culture of school.
